Born in Poltava (Ukraine), Alexander Melnychuk graduated with honours in opera singing under Prof. Mykola Kondratuk at P.I. Tchaikovsky National Music Academy in Ukraine.
Alexander Melnychuk is well known for the large Verdi’s baritone roles, including the title role in Rigoletto and Nabucco, which were performed during recent seasons at the National Opera House in Ukraine.
In 2017 he was engaged to Ravenna Opera Festival to sing Alfio (Cavaleria rusticana), directed by Mrs Cristina Mazzavillani Muti.
From 2006 as the principal soloists at the National Opera House in Ukraine he has sung among others – Grigory Gryaznoy (The Tsar’s Bride), Scarpia (Tosca), Alfio (Cavalleria rusticana), Giorgio Germont (La traviata), Tomsky (The Queen of Spades), the title role in Eugene Onegin, Escamillo (Carmen) etc.
In 2016 Alexander Melnychuk was awarded the title “Honored Artist of Ukraine”.
